Ode to my dissertation

oh dissertation
such an inducement to procrastination
why art thou so long?
If only I could write a song
instead of 20,000 words of prose
then I would have time for repose
but alas to work I must go
for as of tomorrow
I am meeting the tutor of doom
who will be spreading more gloom
by telling me to do more work
from which I must find fewer reasons to shirk
why oh why oh why
