RAC Excitement
I had a dramatic evening (well not compared to a hollywood film but to my normal evenings) yesterday. Following a fun night at windband (eek very few flutes there so they could actually here us), I drove with the Liz to the Bute library to take my books back. OK so you're probably thinking this isn't very dramatic so far but here's the fun part. I got back into my car and turned the key and...nothing happened! Not a sound from the engin at all! So mild panic from me and slightly less so from Liz. What do we do? Stupidly I left my RAC card at home but fortunately the Liz is full of sense and so had hers with her. So we phoned them and they said they would be 75 minutes!
So now we both go a bit girly and think if only we had some guys with us to push the car or something, also became a bit paranoid that i ran out of petrol and would look silly. 10 minutes later after contemplating phoning CU to get any males there to come and rescue us the RAC man arrived in his orange van. He knew what the problem was immediately: apparently the key which has a code in it that the car recognises before it lets the engin turn on had become misaligned so the car thought it was a different key. The solution: go home and get the spare key, so we get very excited about going in the RAC van, a sereal journey ensued where we saw lots of people walking to my house for open house, the RAC man was glad he doesn't live next door! I was also panicing that the spare key was in London, however, it was successfully found in the first place i looked hurrah!
So it was back into the RAC van - making sure the two keys are kept separately so it doesn't happen to the spare key too. Then the moment of truth arrived would the spare key work? ...Yes! hurrah we are saved! I can drive home and enjoy open house! Thats the end of my dramatic evening!
The cause of all this was the library scanning system at the doors so all you drivers be warned!
