Oops

What I was trying to make: pineapple upside down cake
What I ended up with: pineapple and mush - nice tasting mush but definitely no sign of cake anywhere

What I was trying to do: sew on hooks and eyes to hold up skirt
What I ended up with: a skirt that falls down

Where I was trying to drive to: the bank
Where I ended up driving to: church

What I was trying to do: put in ear plugs
What I had to do in the end: read the instructions - how complicated can earplugs be - well you'd be surprised

Traffic Jams and Unexpected Packages

TRAFFIC JAMS

Well my latest journey from Cardiff to Herne Hill took ... drum roll... 7 hours! yep we have a new longest time record! Fortunately I wasn't alone on this mamouth trek as Laura Foster - now to be called Smerf was with me. She is a good person to have in a traffic jam - highly entertaining. Firstly we took a random route north of the M4 to aviod a major hold up near Bristol which we already knew about which was fun we only had a couple of panic moments at junctions not knowing which way to turn. However, despite our success at avoiding one accident we got held up in another one near Reading, it took nearly 2 hours to get from one services to the next so we ended up stopping at both, though we were considering the bushes at one point - they're never quite thick enough on motorways! Anyways we had great entertainment trying to stop next to a certian van to ask the driver what a soffit was as these were advertised on the side each time our lane or his lane moved was a very tense and exciting moment. Eventually we were close enough to ask - unfortunately we didn't really understand his answer it's something that goes under a roof. We then started naming the drivers of cars we kept passing we had:
Chewing nails woman
Naked woman - we actually think she may have been as there was no top in sight
Famous guy
Getting out to ask for a cigarette guy
Knee man and of course Soffit man
We then had to park in London for a while to wait until after 6:30 to go into the congestion zone near Victoria station.

UNEXPECTED PACKAGES

1. Coincidenses are weird! I was talking to Sarah at our Malawi weekend about her jury service and said how much I wanted to do it so imagine my surprise to get home and find a jury summons waiting for me! Unfortunately I'm going to have to defer it as it will clash with enrolement and staring uni but still am quite excited! Though also scared by the prosepect of having to stay awake through what could be a very boring trial!

2. Finally recieved my football supporters kit from Kingmill - was meant to be a world cup promotion hmm... but at least now I have my chanting remote control!

3. Got £20 book token from uni for getting a first - very nice of them hmmm do they expect me to spend it on books for next year or just a random novel.?

Tinkerbell

That's the name of the cat we are looking after. She is really friendly and so cute but also very mischievous. She wants to know everything and see everything which means she wants to go in every cupboard, behind everything and up the curtains. So you always have to have someone ready to leap up and get her down or rescue her. She is very sweet when she's sleepy and often sleeps completely upside down. She's learnt two words hello, and please which she always accompanies with a pleading look. I think she thinks her name is no as thats the word we most often have to say to her. It seems our friends are going to keep her unless her owner comes forward, if not I may be forced to phone our landlord to convince him to let her live in Cardiff! Anyways here's a couple of photos:

Landlubbers and a cat!

Well just spent a week at holiday club as Captain yo-ho. It was for 5-11 year olds and there were generally around 40 kids everyday. It was great fun but very tiring being enthusiastic for 2 1/2 hours is exhausting. There were some great comedy moments including:

Quote of the week from Poppy "Somebody sit on me quick!"

The funniest moment has to be in the leaders meeting during one of the quieter moments when one of the leaders' 2 year old son belched the loudest belch I have ever heard (and bear in mind I live(ed) with Helen, Becci and Jamie who are all good belchers), everyone just cracked up except his mum who went bright red.

The funniest game was knights, horsemen and cavaliers, seeing kids trying to pick each other up was hilarious - fortunately there were no injuries.

The best pirate voice had to go to Eleanor (who is only 3 but joined in anyway) who just said "hello" very sweetly when demonstrating hers.

Am very excited this week as we are looking after a kitten! It is sooooo cute! Unfortunately it's lost and some friends of ours have taken it in and are looking for its owners but they are away this week so we are cat sitting for them. So if you know of anyone in the Dulwich area that has lost a grey tabby kitten about 5 months old then let me know. Hopefully I'll be able to put some photos up of her soon.

Also pleased to see Palace getting off to a good start to the new season its 2-1 at the moment yay!
